Kaluz Museum is pleased to introduce this exhibition which creates a dialogue between landscape paintings from two collections: the Kaluz Collection of Mexican Art and North American Terry Welch’s Collection, the most important collection of Japanese modern painting in Latin America. The Japanese landscapes correspond to the trends of nihonga日本画 and bunjinga 文人画, and they share the space with Mexican paintings of the same period, that is, the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century. Added to this selection are works chronologically earlier and later than this period, which gives way to the observation of similarities and differences that stimulate the reflection on an epoch in which the artistic canons were reformulated all over the whole world.
